The year 2021 marks the 20th anniversary of the Taubira law declaring slavery and trafficking a crime against humanity and the 30th anniversary of the association Les Anneaux de la Mémoire .

On this occasion, on December 2, 2021 , The Rings of Memory are programming the performance of the play "They will take us away from our name" in the performance hall of the Maison de Quartier in DOULON ._cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b -136bad5cf58d_

Summary of the play : Several eras, several crossed destinies. They always tell the same dirty stories, always the same diabolical process: kidnapping, forced labor, beatings, abuse. We follow the story of Bakhita, a Sudanese slave at the beginning of the 20th century, the story of Djangou, a slave today in Paris, the story of Fatou, forced to beg, Elena, a sex slave and others no name, no identity.

This project, on the initiative of the youth service of La Courneuve with the support of the Studio Théâtre de Stains addresses slavery and human trafficking of yesterday and today, questions history and the present, denounces the forced labor and the enslavement of children and adolescents. The actors find themselves actors in the fight against current discrimination, they question our responsibilities and our capacities for action. They want to transmit this dark reality with their words and share their theatrical experience with other young people.

The Rings of Memory, wanted to program artistic creation on slavery in Doulon (originally planned for the month of Memories in Nantes in May), the action was postponed, due to the health crisis, to the date of December 2, UN International Day for the Abolition of Slavery in the World .
