Genealogical research – Memorial ACTe Guadeloupe

This space includes more than 6 000 genealogical trees of Guadeloupe families. An achievement which has as its starting point a long and meticulous work in the departmental archives of Guadeloupe carried out by Michel Rogers, a passionate genealogist.

Les Anneaux de la Mémoire travaillent, dans le cadre du projet MANIFEST, sur une base de données qui doit rendre compte de l’histoire et des héritages de la traite transatlantique sur l’ensemble de l’Europe. Sans être exhaustive elle doit refléter la diversité des sources, des patrimoines et des mémoires et valoriser la transversalité des contenus. Un comité consultatif a été créé pour ce projet. Il rassemble des personnalités dans le domaine de la recherche, des arts et de la société civile.

The ACTe Memorial or “Caribbean Center for Expressions and Remembrance of the Slave Trade and Slavery” is un  memorial . It is located in the bay of the port of Pointe-à-Pitre , Guadeloupe , on the site of the former Darboussier sugar factory .

International Slavery Museum – Liverpool (United Kingdom)

Inaugurated in 2007 as part of the celebration of the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade in the former British Empire and the Haitian Revolution, it is dedicated to the black population: an oppressed minority for several centuries.

Old Slave Mart museum – Charleston  (United States)

Located on the very spot where the last slave sales took place in 1863. It tells the story of the emancipation of blacks until the movement of civil rights through the various cultural influences African and Caribbean.

Schoelcher Museum – Pointe-à-Pitre (France)

Museum associated with the image of one of the strongest historical personalities of the French West Indies: Victor Schoelcher. The museum is also, by the wish of the latter, a real place for the promotion of culture in the most universal sense of the term.

Under the aegis of the Route des Abolitions association, 25 sites and places of memory linked to the fight against slavery are now federated in the National Memorial Center of Eastern France and Switzerland in order to promote the pioneering action of historical figures and to strengthen France's historical commitment to the history of the slave trade, slavery and its abolition.
